Getting ready for Halloween

Last year we threw our first annual pumpkin carving party.
It had been a dream of mine since I moved into our new home.

Halloween is just around the corner so I pulled up last year's pics for inspiration.

Here was last year's party set up.
Every year, I hang my favorite pictures from Halloween's past.

This Mr. Bones Jangles

Spooky pudding cups with worms

You cannot have a party without chocolate balls...yum!

Big scary monster hands

Some spooky treats

Scary vampire ghosts!

Frankenstein Cheese Fingers

And some vampire teeth

And delicious mummy pizzas

And here is the scariest pic of all...
This kids!
They did such a great job carving their pumpkins!!

I am really looking forwad to the Halloween this year!

Fairy Love

I absolutely love fairies!
Tooth fairies, birthday fairies, even Tinkerbell.

But have you ever heard of a nursing fairy?
This fairy is a witch!

Something must have happened in her life to piss her off.
She sits on the hospital floor and listens...
She waits until she hears these golden words:

"I am having a good day"

And then she strikes!

She likes to cause grief at change of shift,
or when you need to leave early,
or pretty much any day you are keeping your sanity at work.

I want to kick her in the face!
That is all I have to say about that.

Score!

I will finally say it...
I am a closet ribbon horder!

My husband laughs at how many spools of ribbon I own.
I cannot stop collecting them.
Glass jars overflow with all colors.
I love ribbon!
I tell myself I don't need anymore,
and then this shows up in my cart.

How can I resist?
Oh ribbon....you make me so happy!

I stink!

Apparently, I stink as a blogger.
There is so much I want to write and post and at the end of the day,
I just cannot keep up with being a nurse, mom, wife, crafter...etc.

So, here is my lone post and some fun stuff I have been working on.
My best friend is having her 3rd baby.
He was a fun surprise!
We just threw her a boy shower last year and I used up all my super fun shower ideas.
I have been struggling to find something new and fun for this new little boy.

Enter Pinterest!

So, after a few hours on pinterest,  I found out what my creative soul needed...pinwheels!!!
Holy cow, how have I never made these before?
They are SO FUN!

So here is a sneak peak for what is to come this weekend:

A frame that sits on my fireplace mantel has been converted to shower mode.

Love using mixed pieces of milk glass and glass bottles.

Loving the paper fans and pinwheels!

Trying out a simple diaper cake since it is a diaper shower.
Cannot wait for this weekend!

A little sunshine

I have had the flu for the last three days.
My poor son has been stuck with me at home and
he has entertained himself with movies, xbox, computer and phone games.

I feel like a complete failure as a mom!
I hate being sick!

So, today I finally feel better and we invited some friends to swim.
My poor boy put himself to bed and now has over 104 fever.
I gave him some medicine and now he is peacefully sleeping.

So, what in the world do I do with a whole hour of time in the afternoon to myself?

CRAFT!!!

I saw a similar garland on Etsy and have been dying to make this beauty.
Let me tell you...these are SO fun to sew!!!

It brought a little sunshine to our gloomy house this week.

So young!

Brian got carded at Target and I wondered...
Was he being sneeky with some beer or wine?

Nope!
He got carded for poppers!
We were cracking up so hard.

RSM better watch out...the Glaser family is out on the town with some poppers.

Brendan is extatic.
He cannot wait to mark one thing off of his summer list:

"Scare daddy with poppers."

We are devising our tactics.
I hope we get him good!

Seriously...

This is what I found on the day we were going to pick our one lone plumb.
Brendan was pretty bummed.
He has been asking and asking when he could eat it.
Such a bummer. I have no idea what ate this!

So much to learn about growing veggies and fruit.

Welcome Summer!

These past few months have been so crazy.
I have neglected my little blog.

Summer is here and we are anticipating a lot of fun!
And hopefully some much needed crafting.

Here is our summer list:

Let summer begin!

Hallelujah

HE HAS RISEN!!!

Thank you Lord Jesus for giving your life so mine could be saved.

Having my son Brendan and hearing the message of Easter really hit home this year.
I cannot imagine the sacrifice of giving your only son.
And watching him suffer.

Thank you Lord Jesus.
I am truly humbled.

Fishing Fun

My boys played today while I went to work.
It was Brendan's first time fishing.
I am so excited for him to experience it.
I loved going with my family when I was young.

Here is the catch of the day for Hunter and Brendan:

FYI...It's the same fish! It just looks like they caught a bunch! ha ha.

You have got to laugh!!

So this is what happens when you forget your son's bathing suit in a house full of girls.

You get half of your cousin's bikini to wear.

The best part...Brendan kept saying, "mom, this bathing suit was made for boys and girls" in his sweet innocent voice. I just wanted to eat him up!

He couldn't care less what he was wearing as long as he got to go in the spa.

My sweet skinny bean!
I love this boy!!!

I love these girls!

Our dear friend is going in for her second kidney transplant in a few days.

My sweet friends spent the afternoon cooking healthy meals for her
for when she returns home from the hospital.

We talked, laughed, prayed and enjoyed an afternoon helping our dear friend.

                                                      The girls cooking their
                                                      little hearts out.

In just a few hours, we were able to make:
4 loaves of bread
4 ready to cook pizzas
1 Large Lasagne
2 containers of soup
a stack of beef burger patties
a stack of veggie burger patties
3 bags full of macaroni and cheese
1 box full of granola
1 big bag of rotisserie chicken shreded
2 bags of sliced meatloaf
lots of trays of yummy juice cubes for healthy smoothies

AMAZING!

I also made some magnets so we will be reminded daily to pray for our sweet friend.

Today was awesome!
I am so blessed to have amazing friends that are always willing to help out.

Nichole, you are truly and example to each of us and we pray for a successful surgery.
We love you!

Prehistoric Pets

We got invited to one of the funnest parties!
It involved snakes, lizards, tarantulas and a frog named Jabba.

Brendan had a blast.

I cringed many times.

Alicia made the cutest monster party hats

Which has now turned Brendan into a zombie for the past two days

Happy Birthday Avery and Brylie!
We had a blast!

Rice and Beans

When I really don't feel like cooking, I pull out one of the easiest dinner recipes ever.
My son calls it easy peezy lemon squeesy.

Here are the ingredients you need:

White rice-We love the Jasmin from Trader Joes.
One can of black beans (rinse the beans)
Cilantro-diced
Lemon Juice
Avocados

I start by making one cup of rice.
(a trick to making rice so tasty...saute the dry rice with butter prior to adding the water)
Once rice is done, just add the black beans and cilantro to taste (the more the better for me!)
Finally, squeeze the lemon to taste.
Mix it all together.

And here is the finished dish...YUM!

It is easy!
My boys love it!
It is cheap! (and somewhat healthy)
Enjoy
