Rice and Beans

When I really don't feel like cooking, I pull out one of the easiest dinner recipes ever.
My son calls it easy peezy lemon squeesy.

Here are the ingredients you need:

White rice-We love the Jasmin from Trader Joes.
One can of black beans (rinse the beans)
Cilantro-diced
Lemon Juice
Avocados

I start by making one cup of rice.
(a trick to making rice so tasty...saute the dry rice with butter prior to adding the water)
Once rice is done, just add the black beans and cilantro to taste (the more the better for me!)
Finally, squeeze the lemon to taste.
Mix it all together.

And here is the finished dish...YUM!

It is easy!
My boys love it!
It is cheap! (and somewhat healthy)
Enjoy

Under $10.00 makeover

I picked up this random pantry door from a friend and had no idea what I was going to do with it.
All I knew is that I loved it and would figure out what to do with it.

When we moved to our new home, the idea came to me.
We have this huge wall outside and no where to hang our towels when we get out of the pool.

So, I went to Lowe's and picked out the cheapest knobs on clearance.
They were so ugly, but they had potential.
One coat of brown paint is all it took to cover the brass color.

I also bought a "tester" paint can for a few dollars.
Of course, it had to be turquoise...my fav color!

After it dried, I distressed it a bit and viola!
Look at my new, cute towel holder.

We love it!

Yay....Yay...Whatever....

Call me corny,
call it cheesey,

Yay....Yay...Whatever....

I LOVE VALENTINE'S DAY!

I am a true romantic.
The cornier the better!
I love love!

So, how did we celebrate Valentine's Day?

We started off with heart pancakes.
(This year...made by my sweet hubby...hence the enormous dab of butter!)

I wore my only pink sweater I own and pulled out my cute hearts.

We gave little gifts

and I decorated Brendan's room.

This year we saved the heart pasta,

and went out to lunch
 Lots of hugs were given,

And, of course...we had to play Valentine's Angry Birds.

As we were cooking dinner, Brendan found some old Valentine's Day cups and plates.
So, he decided to decorate the table.  (Puffle had to join too)

Brendan wanted his graph to be the centerpiece.

This was the final table, ready for dinner.

Brian grilled steaks and of course...
I had to make pink mashed potatoes.

And finally, my sweet hubby surprised us with these little bits of heaven.

You may ask...

Was it all worth it?

It was 100%! This is what I heard after dinner;

"Mom, this was the best Valetime's Day ever! and by the way...I love you and dad!"

My heart melted!
He has never been so lovey.
Every single cheesey bit was worth it!

I hope you all felt very loved today!

Fruit Ninja

This is one of my son's fav games on the droid.
So, what do you do when you are bored and charging your battery?
You play the real thing.

 Double fruit...

 Slice...

 Here is the aftermath...

And then guess who wanted to play??
